The following information is provided by the National Park Service. As with all construction schedules, this is subject to change. Please check with Park personnel at the entry gates for up-to-date information, or call the National Park Service: 307-344-7381.
With this in mind, consider the following options: extra time for delays, alternate routes, plan travel during time frames when roads are open and plan lodging around construction.
Construction will start spring 2007. This road segment starts on the east side of Sylvan Pass at Eleanor Lake and continues to the East Entrance Station.

PLEASE NOTE ~ Traveling to or from Cody, Wyoming via the East Entrance Road ~ 04 May - 25 May 2007
Barricades at the East Entrance and Eleanor Lake close at 8:00 pm and reopen at 8:00 am. To leave the park, you must be past Eleanor Lake by 8:00 pm. Allow at least 45 minutes to drive from Fishing Bridge to Eleanor Lake.
To enter the park from the east, you must be at the East Entrance by 8:00 pm. Allow at least one hour to drive from Cody to the East Entrance. There is an alternate route to Cody via the Northeast Entrance and the Chief Joseph Highway.
No night closures during the summer, 2007. Construction is expected to be completed fall, 2007.
This road segment of Highway 212 is outside of Yellowstone, east of the Northeast Entrance. It starts on the east side of Cooke City, Montana and extends to the Wyoming state line. Expected completion was late summer of 2006. For additional information please call: 888-285-4636.
